The Val di Fassa is an ideal destination for anyone who loves snow and skiing!
There are more than 210 kms of slopes stretching across 7 different ski areas linked by a convenient network of ski buses.
Val di Fassa also offers a vast range of non-ski activities such as beautiful walks with snowshoes.
One of the main attractions of the Val di Fassa is the opportunity to ski in different areas every day. Perhaps you might tackle one of the area’s famous ski circuits such as the Giro dei Quattro Passi, the Sellaronda, the Skitour delle Emozioni or the Giro della Grande Guerra or head for the new Skitour Panorama which takes you from Pozza di Fassa to the Ciampac basin.
Every morning from any village, you can take a different ski route, getting to the heart of the Dolomites with its breath-taking scenery and clear skies. Even in winter, days can be a beauty to behold.
Snow, sun, warmth and endless fun!Â
The Val di Fassa has developed and consolidated its own tradition of Nordic skiing thanks to the Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa, a track which runs the entire length of the valley.
Along this renowned route, each locality has set up tracks and loops with guaranteed snow thanks to artificial snow programmes. This extensive network makes it a paradise for cross country enthusiasts; there are also certified training centres for anyone needing instruction.
In Pozza di Fassa, you will find the Ciancoal cross country loop which is particularly fun with its changes in pace and another trail in Fontanazzo. Both tracks are illuminated by night giving you an opportunity to train or spend time unwinding in the silence of darkness.
At high altitudes, you will find the beautiful Alochet cross country centre in the S. Pellegrino pass as well as the Ciampac loop in Alba di Canazei reached by using the Alba-Ciampac cable car. Other cross country ski loops can be found in the Costalunga Pass, a few kilometres from Vigo di Fassa.
Group courses and private lessons are available and can be booked at the Alpine Ski Schools in the various localities.
Have you ever thought how amazing it would be to walk through a winter wonderland, skimming across the glistening snow in your snowshoes and leaving nothing behind you but your tracks?
Snowshoe hiking is an unforgettable way to take in the beauty of your surroundings and feel totally at one with nature. Whether looking for wild animal tracks in the snow or discovering the charm of an old, abandoned mountain hut, it is sure to evoke the memories of a bygone age and lull you into a sense of total relaxation.
